How to get rid of frequent posts named McAfee that say I have 5 viruses?

My laptop came with a McAfee "protection" that I let run its course and the subscription has expired.

Since that expiration, I have been getting notification windows telling me my computer is infected, and if I click on the "get rid of it" button, McAfee comes up.

How do I get rid of this?
