I just installed Vista Ultimate 64 bit on Monday on my system with an A8N-SLI
Deluxe MB. My two RAID-0 Raptors are on the nVidia SATA controller, however,
not the SI SATA slots.

The installation DVD was able to recognize, partition and format my RAID
array with no driver disk and seemed to work fine. However, now that I've
removed the installation DVD, the system fails to boot unless the DVD is in
the DVD drive. I do not boot off of the DVD drive, but the system still
won't boot unless the disk is in.

I'm hoping the following discussion holds the answer:

Did you go into the RAID BIOS and configure your RAID 0
there before you installed Vista?

Yes. The RAID-0 stripe was already set up in the BIOS. Previously, I had Xp
installed on it and it booted just fine. The Xp MBR was destroyed when I
used the Vista installer to delete the partition and put a new one in its
place.

I should also have noted previously that I do not have a floppy drive, nor
do I intend to ever again. I would have thought that Vista would have
recognized that the function of most floppies has been replaced by card
readers and USB flash drives long since.

You need to find out where your Vista boot file is and make sure that drive
is the first in boot priority in your BIOS and is on a primary active
partition. If you have an IDE hard drive there have been problems that have
required running startup repair with the IDE drive disconnected.
