Hi,

I am using windows 2000 professional in a domain at office. I suddenly found
after a week break that someone changed my most of the settings.

I found that all the logged user profiles are found in c:\winnt\profiles
folder instead of c:\documents and settings\

How is that possible and how can i change that. Please help

Thanks in advance,

Chandra

Hello gchandrujs via WinServerKB.com,

Do you use roaming profiles? It has something to do with the profile creation,
maybe this article helps a littlebit:

Re: User profiles location changed.

Hi Weber,

Thanks for your reply.

By the way, its a desktop pc and there is no way to use roaming profiles. But
since we are using around 100 PC in our network, only this pc (Win 2000
Professional) is storing the profiles in c:\winnt\profiles folder even if i
try to login with a new domain user, the folder is creating only in that path
only and not in c:\documents and settings.

Any help to clear this doubt will be appreciated.

Thanks once again

Regards
Chandra

Re: User profiles location changed.

The installation is more than likely an upgrade from Windows NT 4.0 hence
the profiles location.
