Boasting social features on top of millions of songs, it allowed you to express your music tastes to anyone you wanted to share your playlists with. However unlike most streaming services that have a free component, you had to pay for these features once the free trial was up. Even then you were subjected to time capped listening once your six month grace period of unlimited listening was up. As of today, that’s no longer the case.

Days before Beats Music officially debuts, Spotify announced that users will no longer be plagued by time limits on the desktop. On top of that Spotify is now free on mobile and desktop devices. The company raised over $250 million to make this happen. Of course the free plan isn’t without ad support. But the company feels that the longer someone uses its product, the more likely they’re going to end up paying for premium ad-free service. If you haven’t given Spotify a try, now may be the time.
