Don't be surprised to see future mobile apps ask your permission to track your vital signs. Google Operating System has spotted some code for a new Android Fitness API that will let Android apps "view and edit your fitness tracking, health and activities data, including reading and writing raw and transformed data." Google Operating System speculates that Google will likely store data from multiple apps in your Google account so you can get a complete picture of your daily well being. Given the coming importance of wearable computers, it seems likely that Google has created this API in preparation for Android-based smartwatches and fitness trackers that are set to launch this year.
