The Sony “Sirius” (D6503) smartphone, likely the Xperia Z2, had a fair amount of screenshots and specs leak this morning. The screenshots obtained were from November 2013 and the device was running Android 4.3; however, a new set of screenshots shows Sony’s user interface revamped in the form of Android 4.4 KitKat. Courtesy of Xperia Blog, we now know that Sony’s upcoming flagship smartphone will launch with the latest version of Android.

One of the biggest takeaways from this leak is that the handset will have expanded camera capabilities. 4K video recording, slow motion thanks to recording high frame-rate, and background defocus are all present. The Xperia Z1 was set to have 4K recording, but that apparently fell through.
On the display front, users can wear gloves and still navigate through menus. Also, much like Samsung’s Smart Stay, Smart Backlight Control will turn off the screen when a user looks away. And similar to LG’s KnockOn, double tapping an off screen wakes up the device. KnockOn, however, also turns off the screen.
For the people who have a hard time navigating through a smartphone’s user interface, Sony has gone Samsung’s route and has an option to use something called Simple Home. Simple Home gives users something like a grid layout that would be found on a feature phone. Also, font becomes enlarged.
