Mad Catz’s Android-powered MOJO gaming console has been successfully rooted, and as a result, users will be able to access the Google Play Store, as well as thousands of other applications.
It obviously involves flashing a custom boot image using your computer (no overwriting the existing ROM), so be careful if you don’t have any rooting experience.
MoDaCo’s Paul O’Brien deserves the credit for the root. Here’s what he had to say:
Superboot is a boot.img that when booted, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash any partitions, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just boot the boot image using the instructions below and you’re done!
If you’re interested, grab the boot image in the MoDaCo link below and get started. After a reboot, you’ll have Superuser APK on your MOJO, as well as access to more Google Play apps.
