Nintendo's Wii U home video game console isn't exactly dead and buried yet, but at this point it's safe to call the device a complete and utter flop. Games made for the new console are no less entertaining than they were on the original Wii, which was a massive success, but the Wii U lacks any sort of appealing innovation that might woo families and casual gamers. As a result, sales have been terrible and Nintendo slashed its 2014 outlook by 70% from 9 million units to just 2.8 million. Things may have gotten so bad that, according to one report, Nintendo is already starting to work on the Wii U's successor.
