K I bought the OEM version on Vista 64-Bit to run on my new hand built
system. Specs: Intel Core2 Quad 2 @ 2.44 GHz , 3Gb DDR2 Ram .. (was sopposed
to be 4 but i will explain in a sec) Abit FP-IN9 SLI FATAL1TY motherboard and
MSI nvidia 256MB GEForce NX8600 GTS video card ... when I first assembled
the system windows would give me a BSOD saying a memory issue and removing
the 4th Gig of ram i had installed fixed it.. and after installing the OS and
getting all the updates, Installing AVG, Nero, and WoW, I've had frequent
lockups. It could be at random intercals of 45 mins to 6 hours depending on
its "Attitude" I soppose. Most frequent times i knotice its frozen is after i
wake up in the morning and the screen saver is stuck, or when im in the
middle of playing WoW or just surfing the web. I've also had it freeze on me
while I just restarted from the previous crash and was just moving the mouse
around the desktop to click the start button. So yeah i'd have to say Vista
is the buggiest OS ive come across, beyond the problems it runs wickedly fast
and preforms well when running games on it at full rez and several hours
straight .. at least untill it frezzes. If anyone has some tips I can try to
fix this, or at least stem the lock up tide a bit that would be great.
