There are people in the world that just can not keep their smartphone safe from drops, spills, and other dangerous possibilities. For those people, the rugged smartphone market was made. ZTE is the latest entrant with their G601U smartphone that just received certification in China. It is unknown whether or not it this device will escape China or be solely available there.
Hit the break for specs and shots of the device from the back and side.
The design is much like rugged smartphones from Casio or Kyocera. The 4-inch display has a 800×480 resolution. Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 1GB of RAM. A 5MP camera is on the back and a VGA one faces the user. There is expandable storage thanks to the microSD card slot. To keep this tough guy going is a 2500mAh battery that should be solid considering the other specs.
