Google’s Chrome team and LEGO have partnered to bring the fun of building with LEGO bricks to your browser with the Build with Chrome experiment. Built using WebGL 3D graphics technology, the collaboration between the two companies gives users the ability to build amazing creations and pin them to a virtual globe. The idea originally came from a team in Australia that built it as an experiment that Google is now opening up to everyone. The timing of the change from experiment to release was probably helped along with the upcoming release of THE LEGO MOVIE.
If you have a Google+ account it is even better as you can save your creations, share them with your circles and find stuff others have built. The Chrome team also added a categorization system to the official release to help users sort and filter for specific types of structures. A Build Academy is also available, which you will probably look at after you spend some time clicking together bricks, that contains some tutorials and challenges to help you hone your skills.
For those of you who would rather build using your fingers instead of a mouse, you can use the Chrome for Android browser on your smartphone or tablet if it possesses high-end graphics capabilities and you have support for WebGL.
Check out the promo video below and then head on over to buildwithchrome.com if you are ready to start building.
