Will the Galaxy S 5 feature a fingerprint or iris scanner? That is the question. The most recent rumors indicate that it’s going to be a fingerprint scanner, but what company is going to make it. There really isn’t a lot of options out there, so it appears Samsung took it upon themselves to design their own.
Sources indicate this won’t be a simple touch sensor like we have seen on other smartphones. Samsung has something unique, in that it will have some sort of swiping gesture.
If you remember, it was leaked that Samsung will go with on-screen buttons for the Galaxy S 5. They would have opted to put the scanner outside the display, but that would add an extra step. By incorporating something into the display, it simplifies things, but the big question is if it will work well or just be a gimmick.
We are cautiously hoping for the former.
