Well look at what we have here. A new handheld gaming device from ASUS, called the Gamebox, hit the AnTuTu benchmarks. On the surface, it would appear to be a NVIDIA Shield competitor, but it’s not all that different from the Shield. It sports a 1.9GHz quad-core Tegra 4, a GeForce ULP graphics chip, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and Android 4.3.
So what’s the story? Unfortunately it’s anyone’s guess. They could be actually working closely with NVIDIA on this one or they could be going after NVIDIA. I suspect the former, and it will be another way to push this platform to the next level. Let’s also not forget that these specs might not actually show up in the final version.
We will just have to wait and see. My guess is this could be unveiled at Computex in June.
