People who use ChatON will be happy to know that the Samsung chat app will be adding location sharing to its list of features. Partnering with Glympse, a person-to-person time-based location sharing tech company, users will have the ability to share their location via the Glympse icon. Users will then be able to share real-time movements on a map for a set period of time with their friends. Co-found and CEO of Glympse, Bryan Trussel, had this to say about how easy location should be:

”We believe location technology should be ubiquitous and incredibly easy to use, and by putting it directly into an SMS conversation, we’re providing a rich and immediate way for people to share where they are.”

The update should be live here soon, if it isn’t already, otherwise you can download the app from here in the Play Store. ChatON users, you’ll have to let us know just how well it works when you get it. We have the presser for you after the break. Enjoy!

SEATTLE, WA – Glympse, the world’s leading location sharing app and technology provider, has teamed with ChatON, the top global mobile communication service offered by Samsung, to provide temporary location sharing to the app’s nearly 180 million users in more than 200 countries. With this partnership, Glympse and ChatON are creating a more rich and visual experience for users of the messaging application, helping to foster a new breed of dynamic chat communications.

ChatON’s mobile communication service helps to connect users across platforms, including Android, iOS, Windows, Blackberry, Samsung feature phones and Web, enabling people around the globe to communicate without the barrier of a specific device or operating system. The company’s philosophy is analogous to the guiding principles that drive Glympse, which was founded on the belief that people should be able to share their location with anyone without having to develop a custom network or circle of friends.

“There are great synergies between Samsung’s ChatON and Glympse, and we’re excited to give the app’s global user base access to real-time location sharing,” said Bryan Trussel, co-founder and CEO of Glympse. “We believe location technology should be ubiquitous and incredibly easy to use, and by putting it directly into an SMS conversation, we’re providing a rich and immediate way for people to share where they are.”

By working with top-tier companies and brands, Glympse is allowing people to share location wherever and whenever they need to whether in the car, in their navigation app, on their watch, on a plane, while text messaging, or from the native Glympse app. This latest integration enables ChatON users to share their location via Glympse within the same familiar interface they know and love. From within the app, users can just tap on the Glympse icon to share their real-time movements on a map with friends, for a set period of time.

“We always strive to provide our users with the best, most innovative technologies to enhance their mobile conversations and, we hope, to make their lives easier,” said Jay Park, vice president, Samsung Electronics. “Real-time location sharing was at the top of our list, and we are excited to partner with Glympse to offer their technology to ChatON users around the globe.”

ChatON is available for download from Samsung Apps, Google Play, Apple App Store, Blackberry App World and MS Windows Mobile download. For more information on Glympse, visit www.Glympse.com/get_glympse .
