We have the Fitbit, Nike FuelBand, and even the new Samsung Gear Fit for all our fitness needs, but what about your dog? Well there is an app for that, and an accessory as well. Whistle, which has already been available on iOS, just launched on Android in the Google Play Store. The Whistle app will track your canine’s day-to-day behavior and long-term health trends. Data is uploaded via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and will track activities such as walking, playing, and rest.
Of course you will need the Whistle Activity Monitor in order to track all these activities. The monitor attaches to your dog’s existing collar. Availability was fairly limited, but they just announced that PetSmart will be carrying the device, which makes things a lot easier. However, it costs $129, so you are really going to have to be a health nut for this one. Or someone that just has to own every gadget. The Whistle Activity Monitor is a sleek device that attaches to the dog’s existing collar and collects data on activities throughout the day and night then wirelessly sends the information to a connected smartphone. Whistle’s free mobile app is available for both Apple and Android devices.

The Whistle Activity Monitor creates a timeline of the dog’s day with easy-to-understand insights formed using weight, age, breed and location. Beyond the daily snapshot, trends are tracked over time. This information – such as more or less sleep or a change in activity – can help pet parents and their veterinarians make more informed health and lifestyle decisions. Whether at work, on vacation or at home on the couch, pet parents can get updates on their dogs’ activities and stay connected from anywhere with one click on their smartphones.
