Last month, Amazon held talks with a large number of record labels in order to start its own music streaming service like Spotify, Beats etc. According to The Wall Street Journal, the company has talked with major record labels and music publishers to license their musics for the upcoming streaming service.
The company is looking to provide music streaming service to its Amazon Prime program customers who pay $79 per year for free two-day shipping and Amazon’s video-streaming service. However, according to the journal, Amazon might limit how many times a person can listen to a song. After a few replays of a song, Amazon would ask the user to buy the music if he/she likes it.
As reported, the company had offered major record labels such as Sony, Universal Music Group and Warner Music a total of $30 million. Instead of a subscription based service that would provide the user with an unlimited access to songs, the music service would be similar to iTunes Radio that plays songs depending on the user’s preferences.
