Yesterday I installed KB932716, the Image Mastering API v2.0 (IMAPIv2.0)
update package for XP, x86 (32bit). Upon rebooting the splash screen will run
forever. A Safe Boot also failed. My guess is that XP is having a problem
loading the new CDROM.SYS. There is no information in the Event Viewer about
the reboot.
What I don't understand is why the new files cause a problem when the
original SP2 files have always worked just fine. Any insight would be
appreciated.
FYI, I copied back the original SP2 files from the Recovery Console and all
is currently well. But I'd like to have the Imapi v2.0 installed. Thanks.
