Just when you thought everything was ‘smart,’ a company announces something new. This time around is LG with the all new Smart Lamp light bulb. The light bulb will connect to your Android device as long as it is running at least Android 4.3 or iOS 6 devices. LG says the Smart Lamp light bulbs will run for ten years if they remain on for around five hours per day.

So what do the light bulbs actually do? There is a security mode to turn on when you are not home in order to imitate someone actually being present. Also, unsurprisingly, the bulbs can enter a mode that matches the songs streaming from your Android device. And when someone calls, the light bulbs will let you know courtesy of some flashes. When available, LG’s Smart Lamp ligh bulbs will retail for around $32 in the United States (or 35,000 won in South Korea).
