According to a report from Korean news site Media Today, Samsung has filed a 300 million won ($285,000 USD) complaint against the Electronic Times regarding reporting on the camera in the Samsung Galaxy S 5. It appears Samsung took the unusual move of skipping a step that involves a press arbitration board in Korea and has gone straight to filing a lawsuit seeking damages.
The Electronic Times maintains their “story fits the facts” and does not constitute a “false alarm” that would negatively impact consumer confidence when considering a purchase of the Galaxy S 5. It appears the story that Samsung is concerned with is one that claimed Samsung was having trouble producing the lenses for the six lens optics that go on the camera’s sensor. According to that report, Samsung was having trouble obtaining the level of precision needed from the lens suppliers. Samsung says the report included false claims that will negatively impact the company.
