Verizon Wireless took to the web today to announce some new discounts that will be coming to their subscribers. Those who are currently on a month-to-month payment plan or bring their own phone, can now opt for the More Everything discounts announced earlier this month.
Big Red’s More Everything Plan is their flagship family plan, recently updated from the Share Everything Plan, giving users more data to work with. The plan was discounted to those who were also taking advantage of the company’s Edge program. Now, Verizon is expanding that discount to more of its customers.
Customers who are on traditional month-to-month plans who change to a More Everything Plan with 8GB of data, will be able to add a line for $30 per month while 10GB of data will get you $15 per line. This means 8GB customers will enjoy $10 in savings and 10GB customers will enjoy $25 in savings. You may be wondering why 10GB of data is seemingly cheaper than 8GB of data. This is because these prices only apply to the device access charges. The 10GB plan actually costs more right off the bat, it is just cheaper to add devices.
Tablet users also got offered a discount. Any customer who activates a tablet under the More Everything Plan will receive an extra gigabyte of data. It is unclear how long these deals will last for as Verizon said it is a limited time offer
As you may know, carrier device subsidization is built into the cost of plans. This means that if a customer purchases a phone off-contract, he or she should see a discount in plan pricing because he or she is not taking advantage of the device subsidization, whether on the Edge plan or not. T-Mobile started this trend, making it very hard for the other major players to ignore.
