USB port mapping using remote desktop on Windows CE 5.0 device

Hi,

I'm using a Gotive (www.gotive.com) H42 device to connect to a terminal
server. We want to read out specific hardware over USB with the H42 device,
and the read-out software resides on the terminal server.

Can someone help me with this ? Apparently you can eg. use a USB keyboard
over the remote desktop connection, but you are not able to active the
checkboxes "disk drives", "printers" and "serial ports" in the options panel
of the logon screen. So I expect this type of specific funcionality is also
out of the question...

Are you using win2k3 server? If so, redirection of such device is not
supported.

We're in implementation phase... so we can still choose if we need to.

Which are the supported configurations ?

The actual idea is to use a portable/car mounted PC in a car with Windows
(any version) on it, and remote desktop or terminal client on the Win CE 5.0
device using a WLAN peer-to-peer connection.

I don't think this is supported in Vista/Windows Server 08 either. In
Vista/WS08, the new USB PnP device redirection feature currently only
supports wpdmtp type devices which are mostly digital cameras and mp3
players.
