Last month’s rumor that Project Tango would get a tablet held true. Google just announced the Project Tango Tablet Developers’ Kit. If you remember, Project Tango launched in the form of a phone back in February, but this it the first time Project Tango is available in tablet-form.
The tablet consists of a Tegra K1, along with a 192-core Kepler GPU, making it the most advanced for mobile graphics and performance. It also sports a 7-inch display, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, WiFi, BTLE, and 4G LTE. Just like the Tango phone, the tablet will consist of cameras and sensors that give it the ability to map its surroundings.
What makes this devkit special is that it will be made available to more developers. Originally, the Tango phone was sent to a few developers, but our understanding is that anyone can obtain the Tablet Developers Kit. The price will be $1,024, and will be made available later this year.
For more information about Project Tango, check out this developer’s experience with the prototype phone and hit up the source links.
