How can I allow websites to use the ActiveX controls on my computer?
Every time I want to do something I get this message in a gold bar:
Your security settings do not allow websites to use ActiveX controls
installed on yyour computer. How can I disable this permently. I can't even
plag a game becuse
of this.

It would be very, very unwise to disable this basic security
precaution. ActiveX is still a gaping hole in IE's and Windows
security. For the specific web sites that you do trust, simply click on
the message bar to install the ActiveX control for that specific web site.

What you suggested doesn't work. When I cilck on the gold bar I get only the
More Information menu. I don't get the option to install it. I still want to
disable it so I can get these sites to work. What is the use of having the
internet if you can't visit
half the sites on it. I think I make have to dump IE and use Mozilla Firefox.
Mozilla Firefox is a 100% better browser than IE anyway.

I don't know about "100%," but I do prefer Firefox to IE. The main
reason? No support for ActiveX, whatsoever. That's one less potential
security vulnerability. (So sites that rely on ActiveX controls work
even worse with Firefox, if at all.)

Re: ActiveX controls Problem

The original problem has not been solved ... all I get when I click on the
gold is the more information menu .... all I want to do is download and use
Java a basic program needed for gaming etc ... nothing more than that yet
vista security give me no options ..... I feel like going back to XP
Please can someone tell me how I can activate active x controls please

Re: ActiveX controls Problem

I see the same issue. I have a clean install of Vista Premium and when i
visit pages that need to use ActiveX controls, such as
www.microsoft.com/downloads with 'office genuine's control, all i get is the
option for "more information". I can't install the control...
