Hello, I've not used this group before but if someone could point me in the
right direction I would be grateful. Trying to fix friends laptop with 98
installed. Gets just past boot up then we get Norton warning (in a DOS
screen) that the "Ripper virus was found in memory" and to press ok to
continue. The screen then tells me I need a Norton rescue boot disk then
shuts down the laptop.
I know this seems a bit dense but I just thought I'd check that, given I
don't have such a rescue disk nor am I likely to locate it, is there
anything at all I can do other than throw the thing away? I could reload 98
if I could find a way to reformat the disc (and find the original disc) I
suppose but I need to get past the virus warning stage first as it will
allow no further action.
Many thanks, David Williams
