With all due respect, your responding to these posts may make you feel
better, but it does nothing for anyone else except to further increase
the noise level.

It's much better to simply ignore them.

Re: ***[SPAM]***

Sid,

If you go in the XP.General newsgroup you get many users saing the same.

Have you told Pegasus who does the same as I in the newsgroup to do the same?

I have reported the messages to Google & Microsoft which may get around to
deleting them

I reply to let users know to ignore it & I will continue to do the same

I haven't "told" anyone to do anything ... I merely pointed out the net
effect.

You may get a canned response but not much else. Extremely unlikely that
anyone will get around to (or even bother) locking the barn door after
the horse has bolted by chasing down this stuff. Nor will it make a dent
in future spam postings.

Just how "wet behind the ears" do you think people around here are that
they need you to run interference for them? People can recognise these
postings from a mile away and just don't open them. Continue to "help"
them if you feel some urgent need to but I think the most likely result
is that they will just consider you part of the background-noise problem
and act accordingly.

Sid,

Some people download exe or scr attachments & click on them. So, not everyone is
clued up

Some people are also so clueless, they top-post, and screw up their
sig-delimiter in usenet posts.

Flagging spam as such has its use in that it defies to
some extent the efforts of the spammer to advertise
his wares. Ask any billboard advertiser how effective
his poster is when defaced.

I am no authority on spam, hence there is no point
in mentioning my pen name to support your argument.
