HTC released third quarter financial info on Friday revealing mixed results for the company. HTC experienced an 8% decline in revenue in September, following the 10% growth they experienced in August, which followed a huge drop in July. Revenues for September fell to NT$16.7 billion ($549 million USD) compared to NT$18.2 billion ($596 million USD) for the same period in 2013. For the quarter, HTC’s revenues fell 11% year over year to NT$41.9 billion (almost $1.4 billion USD).
Although sales and revenues were down for the quarter, HTC did manage to turn a profit of NT$640 million ($21 million USD). The bad news for HTC is that this was achieved through cost-cutting measures.
HTC appears to still be on the edge of financial ruin or financial fortune, which is at least some improvement compared to prior years when they were mired in a downward spiral. This year’s HTC One (M8) definitely helped the company, but keeping that momentum going may be a challenge. The company has some new devices that may be announced next week in New York City to help give it a bump during the holiday sales season.
