LG announced the G Pro handset in February last year as a rival offering to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. A successor was launched earlier this year in the form of the G Pro 2, although it failed to make any noise in the market. Reports are now indicating that poor sales of the series has forced LG to scrap the G Pro lineup altogether and focus more on the upcoming flagship, the LG G4.

There’s no confirmation directly from LG regarding the issue, so take it with a grain of salt till then. However, given that devices like the LG G3 and the G Flex are already fitting the phablet segment, launching another phablet will make it redundant. So in a way, it’s wise of LG to make this call and focus more on the LG G3 successor. This could also mean that LG will launch the G4 at the Mobile World Congress in March instead of the G Pro 3 as previously rumored.

Have you been a fan of the G Pro series? What do you make of this news?
