In a post on Google+, Xiaomi Hugo Barra announced that sales of the Redmi Note and Redmi 1S devices have been suspended in India. Thanks to an order passed in Delhi High Court sales are suspended until further notice. So far, the company has 150,000 registrations for the Redmi Note on Flipkart. Barra had this to say.
Our sincere apologies to all Indian Mi fans! Please rest assured that we’re doing all we can to revert the situation. We have greatly enjoyed our journey with you in India over the last 5 months and we firmly intend to continue it!
So there you have it. The company is looking into the issue and assessing how to approach the situation legally. Until then, those of you in India who want an Xiaomi device will have to sit patiently. It looks like Barra’s push into India is hitting a few bumps in the road. We’ll update you as soon as we know more.
