When I attempt to setup an HP network printer and use a standard TCPIP Port,
nothing works:
* Print Test Page results in a popup that it failed
* Using Notepad, I get a "The handle is invalid"
* Using Wordpad, the Print command executes without error, but nothing
prints and nothing is in the queue and nothing is in the event viewer
* There are no errors in the event viewer
* When I setup the port, it immediately recognises it as an HP JetDirect card
* I can setup the desired printer on my test machine, that has the same
OS-type installed (so I know my process works, it's just failing on this one
machine.)
* I am using Windows 2003 Enterprise R2, SP2
* This production server is identical in every way except:
1. It has DFS installed
2. It has Print Management option installed
3. It has had MS Dynamics GP installed on it
* Except for the FRx print driver installed by Great Plains, there were no
previous printers installed on this machine. It is a relatively new build.
Any ideas? Dying here to retire my old Win2k print server...
