Sorry about this test, but, no newer newsgroup messages appearing past the
"Installation Question - 500GB Hard Drive" post.
Must test this OE and server....

Re: Testing. please ignore

Dont know if this message is appropriate,
if you arent reading this group using the microsoft news server you may not
be getting all the posts when they are posted from delays between the MS and
ISP versions of the newsgroup
if not at MS this link
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion will open
your newsreader to the MS server and read the group there

Re: Testing. please ignore

I didn't read any untoward, politically incorrect (lol), or nasty language,
so , NO, it's totally "appropriate". <VBG>

But anyway, I am using OE here, and all I know is that there was *nothin'
happnin*. Not the first time it's been like that on the servers - and seems
even more common with OE - when there's some conniption fit somewhere along
the line - than it does with The MS web page. Even Google groups access was
about the same.

At any rate, maybe it's a combination of things. Maybe there weren't any
posts. Maybe the usual denizens are away on vacation or have migrated to XP
groups or are gone for the long weekend.... or maybe no-one has broken
anything lately... or maybe the server had a case of colic.... <g>

But I saw that was "Nothing Happening". Even now, between this post and
the most recent, I only see 10 new topics (not including the one which was
removed from the newsgroup) <shrug> Things aren't as they once were. <doffs
hat>

Thanks for the tip though. :-)

Cheers.

But be aware that msnews.microsoft.com has become very slow and flaky over
the past few months. ;-)

Re: Testing. please ignore

I would say, to also be aware that for some reason; for instance when
accessing the group tonight, though 75 messages were shown upon initial
contact for download [a couple days of messages], it only downloaded 55, the
rest {?} are not to be found; so there is definitely something going on the
server end. It seems OE always show an initial amount [as indicated by the
server] which is thereafter lesser when actually downloaded.

I am presently running no blocks or auto-deletes...
