At CES 2015, Razer announced the Nabu X as an affordable activity tracker. Its purpose upon being announced was likely to hold people over until the more advanced Nabu, which was announced the year before, reaches the market. On Friday at PAX Prime 2015, Razer finally scheduled a pre-order date for the Nabu along with a vague release date.
You will be able to pre-order the Razer Nabu for $99 on September 15 with units being put in the hands of consumers sometime in October.
The primary difference between the Nabu and the Nabu X is the former’s inclusion of a display for notifications. An entirely new companion app compatible with both Android and iOS devices will be made available and work with apps such as Facebook, Instagram, and Google Fit.

“When we originally announced the Razer Nabu at CES 2014, we received a ton of feedback on features that users enjoyed and aspects that needed improvement,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “We re-designed the Razer Nabu with that feedback, including a change in the placement of the button for a more intuitive user experience. The zombie video we’ve made is a fun way for us to commemorate the re-launch of one of our most anticipated products with the fans who helped make it a reality.”
Razer will celebrate its next generation of wearable products at PAX Prime in Seattle this weekend by giving away 2,000 exclusive PAX Blue Nabu X smartbands to gamers at the expo.
Both Nabu and Nabu X will receive major updates through a new companion app that will be compatible with both devices. The new companion app comes with a vibrant UI for a clearer, more motivating picture of the user’s daily activity, as well as advanced auto-sleep tracking algorithms, amongst other new features. Current Nabu X users can download the beta version of the companion app at www.razerzone.com/nabu-x from today.
A unique band-to-band communication technology is built into the Razer Nabu. Users will be able to display fitness tracking and smartphone notifications directly on their wrist via a discreet OLED screen. To find out more about the Razer Nabu, please visit www.razerzone.com/nabu.
