Hey there,

I'm looking for some recommendations for Windows administration tools,
particularly those that integrate Remote Desktop management as well as
other tools.

I've looked at Smartcode, iShadow and Pointdev. I was wondering if anyone
had any other recommendations. All of these tools have features the others
don't, and i'm looking for something a little more comprehensive.

My needs are:

I have to manage dozens of servers via remote desktop, and i'd like a
single, integrated tool to do this.

It should do the following:

Manage the RDP connections, including allowing configuration of RDP
encryption, and preferrably SSL encryption as well.

Allow management of IIS, and Computer Management functions, including AD,
DCOM/COM+, DNS, Services, etc..

Allow remote reboots of servers.

Work with single sign-on preferred.

Remote registry

Share management

Any suggestions?

No, these apps are typically stand-alone applications.

Re: admin tool roundup?

You can build a custom MMC with all MSC inside..what's the point ?

Maybe i'm misunderstanding, but mmc can't really easily maange an entire
domain of clients. You have to manually connect to each computer, and it
doesn't offer a terminal services management interface.

What I want is a tree on the left side with all the servers in my domain, i
want to right click on one of them and choose management tasks, including
connect to terminal services.

Yes, I can do all that stuff with a bunch of different tools seperately,
but I want to do it all in one tool.

Re: admin tool roundup?

an mmc is available for rdp

I understand your goal, but i am not aware of any free solution for
this,except again making mmc.

I didn't ask for free. I'm more than willing to pay, I just waant some
recommendations for products that I can try out and see if they meet my
needs.

Whee is the rdp MMC? is it just on server versions?

Re: admin tool roundup?

years ago it was a downloadable version. I tink it's in the windows 2003
adminpak.msi

this may help:

Hyena (http://www.systemtools.com/hyena/index.html) may be worth
looking at. I used it in a previous life when I was an admin (several
years ago) and it worked great for us then.
