HTC has announced their first foray into the world of smart fitness tracking, and it’s a collaborative effort with Under Armour. Instead of just making and selling another fitness tracking band like every other OEM, the Healthbox is a comprehensive set of accessories that tracks everything fitness related.

The Healthbox does, of course, include a fitness band, and it’s called the UA Band. It’s pretty standard as far as fitness trackers go and records steps, sleep, workouts, and several other metrics, which are stored in the UA Record application. It uses Bluetooth to pair with your phone, plus it’s water and sweat resistant.

The second item in the Healthbox is a smart scale for measuring your weight. It connects to your WiFi network (and UA Record in the process) to track your weight and body fat. It even supports profiles for different people, so more than one person can take advantage of this in a household.

The last thing in the package is a chest-mounted heart rate monitor, which has been separated from the fitness tracking band. That’s not something most manufacturers do, but HTC and UnderArmour are going the extra mile to get accurate information here. The heart rate monitor works in tandem with your wrist tracker to get an extremely detailed reading on how your exercise is going.

HTC and UA will sell each of these things individually, but currently only the entire Healthbox is up for pre-order on HTC’s site. The whole package will run $400, which is slightly cheaper than buying everything individually, as the wrist tracker and scale cost $180 while the HR monitor costs $80. Buying everything individually would cost an extra $40, so UnderArmour is invested in trying to get users to buy into the entire ecosystem here, not just one device.
