Sony has updated quite a few of its handsets to Android 5.1 rather than jumping straight to Android 6.0. The latest being the Xperia C5 Ultra.

Sony’s Xperia C5 Ultra just received the Android 5.1 update, putting it on the same version as the majority of other Sony handsets. Sony already told users that both its Xperia C4 and C5 Ultra will get Android 6.0, so it’s an interesting move to rollout Android 5.1 first.

Android 5.1 will bring lots of bug fixes along with some touches made to the interface. Considering that the Xperia UI is close to stock Android, users may not notice all that much of a difference when compared to Samsung and LG users. However, the clean interface makes it a lot easier for Sony to rollout the latest updates quicker since there’s less to go through.

The update is rolling out over-the-air in waves, so if you haven’t received it yet, be patient. It should only be a matter of days before all C5 Ultra handsets including both the single SIM and dual SIM variants get the notification to update. If you’re impatient, you can try to speed up the process by going into your device’s settings under ‘About Phone’ and click on ‘search for new software update.’ Hopefully it won’t be too long before Sony readies Android 6.0.
