Looking to beat the morning rush? Want to arrive in style and make one helluva grand entrance? Or do you really just love to fly in helicopters?
Soon, Uber will be able to make all those things happen.
Yes, folks, that’s right. Uber is teaming up with aviation giant Airbus Group SE to provide on-demand helicopter service.
“It’s a pilot project, we’ll see where it goes—but it’s pretty exciting,” said Airbus chief executive Tom Enders.
Airbus didn’t provide financial details of the agreement.
Uber first tested out on-demand helicopter service, which is called UberChopper, between Manhattan and the Hamptons in 2013. Uber has also experimented with helicopter service for special events.
Uber’s on-demand helicopter service will launch at the Sundance Film festival this week. Airbus will provide its H125 and H130 helicopters for the event and Uber will provide a car service for clients who are getting helicopter rides.
