MWC 2016 is inching closer, and most of the attention is getting steered towards Samsung.
Samsung has already confirmed that it will be releasing the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge flagship models at the event. There have also been some rumors that the company will announce the refreshed Galaxy Tab S line, the Galaxy Tab S3’s. Now we have another leak suggesting that a new Galaxy Tab A model for 2016 could be announced.
According to the leak, the Galaxy Tab A (2016) will feature an exterior design very similar to that of its predecessor. It will feature a 7-inch display with a boosted resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels. It will run Samsung’s own quad-core Exynos 3475 SoC, which will be clocked at 1.3 GHz and have 1.5GB of RAM. The tablet is also expected to undergo an increase in battery capacity to 4,000mAh. Other sensors include Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. The leaked images show a microUSB port at the bottom of the device, but unfortunately reveals no present S Pen.
Both Wi-Fi and LTE versions appear to be in the works. Model SM-T280 should be the Wi-Fi only model while model SM-T285 will carry LTE connectivity. Both models are expected to cost no more than $250, with the LTE model being the more expensive of the two. Each version will come in two different colors, black or white.
Although MWC 2016 is next week, there’s a good chance that Samsung passes up on the Galaxy Tab A (2016) for this show in order to focus on its flagship smartphone, which has been getting lots of attention.
