Samsung finally got a win in its ongoing patent battle with Apple when a panel of three federal appeals court judges overturned a $120 million jury verdict against the South Korean manufacturer.
According to reports, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., said Samsung did not infringe on Apple’s “quick links” patent, and that two other Apple patents covering other iPhone features were invalid.
The ruling reverses a jury verdict from 2014, in which Samsung was ordered to pay Apple nearly $120 million for using Apple’s patented technology without permission.
However, this is hardly the end of Samsung’s legal battles with Apple. As we previously reported, in December, Samsung paid Apple over $500 million in a separate patent dispute case. Samsung has appealed and most recently, Apple asked the U.S. Supreme Court not to hear the case.
