The word “consistent” has never been associated with the cameras of HTC’s devices. Every year, the company struggles to give consumers a phone that can just take good pictures. That could finally change with the upcoming HTC 10, which is said to have a 12MP rear camera capable of dueling with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5.

A few hours ago, HTC posted the teaser image you see above to tell the world that its next flagship will have “world first, world class” rear- and front-facing cameras.

Previously, LlabTooFeR shared details regarding both cameras on the HTC 10. The 12MP rear camera is a Sony IMX377 and the 5MP (or UltraPixel) front camera is a Samsung s5k4e6. Chialin Chang, HTC’s CFO, said last month that the phone will have a “very, very compelling camera experience.” The components rumored could point to the executive being correct, but we’ll have to test it out and see where the HTC 10 stands against Samsung and LG’s flagships.

All signs point to the HTC 10 having specifications putting it near the top of the pack instead of embarrassingly falling short like last year’s One M9. The One M10 is expected to have a 5.2-inch Quad HD (2560×1440) display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 4GB of RAM, Adreno 530 GPU, and 32GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot. This is similar to what we’re seeing from the Galaxy S7 and G5, two handsets that were announced weeks ago at MWC 2016.

Many are eyeing April 19 as a possible launch or release date for HTC’s flagship. And when the phone does eventually become available, buyers will get to choose among four color options. The HTC 10 will come in Carbon Gray, Glacial Silver (with a white face), Glacial Silver (with a black face), and Topaz Gold.

Need to see the HTC 10 from every angle? Evan Blass shared this image two weeks ago.
