The latest update to Android Studio has plenty of features for developers to get stuck into, including a faster emulator, Instant Run and more.

Speaking about the new additions on the Android Developers Blog, Jamal Eason, Product Manager, boasts that Android Studio 2.0 is the fastest way to build a high quality Android app for the masses.

Instant Run is one of the new key features, which allows users to build apps at a faster overall speed, making adjustments and seeing those changes appear live in the running app. The new toy will save you time ‘every day’, we’re told.

Eason writes: “[Instant Run] increases your developer productivity by accelerating your edit, build, run cycles.”

Meanwhile, the Android Emulator built into Android Studio 2.0 is around 3x faster than before, now pushing apps and data 10x faster to the emulator than to a physical device. The official Android emulator offers up support for Google Play Services too, which is a handy addition to say the least.

Google is keen to point out that developing via the emulation software is faster than a real device, and partnered with Instant Run the experience is even nippier.

Other tools helping bulk up the Android Studio 2.0 package arrive in the form of Cloud Test Lab Integration, App Indexing Code Generation, GPU Debugger Preview and more.

Android Studio 2.0 is available to download today, so take a look if you’re into mobile development.
