It’s pretty clear that BlackBerry’s best days are behind them, but this doesn’t mean the company is done trying.

BlackBerry has been undoubtedly struggling lately. However, the company did manage to generate hype with its first Android-powered smartphone, the BlackBerry Priv. But according to a recent report, that hype only lasted so long.

BlackBerry CEO John Chen just confirmed the existence of two new Android-powered devices currently being worked on. The duo will reportedly be cheaper than the Priv, and feature modest specifications.

Chen admitted to the mistake of pricing the Priv too high, that may have made the device not compelling enough. With the upcoming duo, which are in the very first stages of production, BlackBerry plans to re-enter the mid-range territory. By pricing the two handsets reasonably cheap, BlackBerry may just gain the popularity it needs to survive. The only details regarding the duo that we know of is that one will be all touchscreen, while the other houses a full hardware keyboard.

There are so many competitive mid-range Android handsets up for sale, therefore creating something special is a must. This may be BlackBerry’s last shot if they want to make things work, so we’re expecting the two to be priced competitively and include what people want most. Let’s hope they have something innovative up their sleeve.
