With the acquisition of EE by telecoms company, BT, being given the go-ahead by regulators, and Three UK in the process of acquiring O2, Vodafone UK needs to offer something unique to stay relevant. To that end, Vodafone UK has announced that it will offer a 30-day Network Guarantee to new and upgrading customers whereby they can choose to stay or leave after 30 days, with no strings attached.

Basically, the 30-day Network Guarantee will allow new and upgrading customers to test Vodafone’s network, giving them the option of leaving if the network doesn’t perform as required. I can imagine this coming in useful if consumers discover that they don’t have signal at work or at home, or perhaps they can only get 2G reception and not 4G.

So what are the terms for returning a device and cancelling the contract as per the 30-day Network Guarantee? Well, if you are returning a device it needs to be undamaged, be in its original packaging with all the accessories that came with it. If you received any freebies or discounted promotional items as part of the contract, these need to be returned as well.

Finally, you must provide Vodafone with proof of purchase, typically a receipt, to continue with the return process. As you might expect, once signed up, you have 30-days to decide if you want to stay with Vodafone or not. If you decide to cancel the contract, you then have 14-days to return any devices that came as part of the contract to Vodafone.

If the device being returned has sustained damage, Vodafone has reserved the right to either deduct an amount from the refund or to apply a charge to the account. Similarly, if the user has accessed premium services, or incurred out-of-bundle expenses before cancelling the contracts, the relevant charges will be applied to the bill. Just because there’s a 30-day cancellation period, it doesn’t mean that everything is free.

The 30-Day Network Guarantee applies to new and upgrading customers, whether it’s for personal or business use and it includes both Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go bundles, in-store and on-line.

The guarantee applies to all new and upgrading Pay monthly and Pay as you go bundles purchased through Vodafone direct channels, such as our 500 retail outlets, online shop and over the phone, so customers have the reassurance that if it’s not for them, they can return it to us, no questions asked.
