The HTC 10 was officially announced earlier today, and so far at least, the reception has been quite positive. While it’s a little early to say that HTC has the ball out of the park with its latest flagship, it’s definitely off to a good start. Unfortunately, it seems like the carriers in both the UK and the U.S. aren’t quite on the same page, with two major carriers confirming that they won’t offer the HTC 10 (specifications here) and others seemingly non-committal.
The U.S. carrier, AT&T, confirmed earlier today that it would not be offering the HTC 10, instead, the carrier has advised its customers to ‘purchase HTC’s newest flagship directly from HTC.com‘. It’s a little surprising, to say the least. The HTC 10 is a major flagship from a major handset maker, albeit a major handset maker that needs a big win to turn its financial fortunes around.
Across the pond, and we were surprised that the UK carriers were so quiet about the HTC 10, with only Three UK announcing that it would carry the handset with a page for prospective customers to register their interest.
There was nary a peep from EE, O2, nor Vodafone, with no official announcements whatsoever. Vodafone has since confirmed via two different channels that it has no plans to offer the HTC 10 as evidenced first by the reply from its PR team:
‘We are constantly reviewing our device portfolio but there are no current plans to range the HTC 10’
And then also by the official Vodafone Twitter team:

The other two major UK networks, O2, and EE, have since merely stated that there is no news at the moment and asked people to register their details for updates. Considering the amount of noise from the networks last week when the Huawei P9 launched, the silence from UK carriers over the HTC 10 is somewhat deafening.
It has to be said, it’s still early days, after all, the HTC 10 was only announced today. But if you remember when Samsung announces a handset, and even last weeks Huawei P9 launch, the carriers aren’t usually slow to jump on the bandwagon and stake their claim.
