Huawei has certainly raised its profile in recent times with the Nexus 6P that it developed in partnership with Google, and its latest flagships, the P9 and P9 Plus that launched in London last week. And let’s not forget about its budget friendly sub-brand, Honor, that launched the 5X to great acclaim earlier in the year. It seems that there may be another device being launched in the coming weeks, with the Honor 5C going through the certification process in China (TENAA).
According to TENAA (China’s version of the FCC), the Honor 5C has a 5.2-inch display with Full HD resolution, be powered by a Kirin 650 octa-core processor (64-bit) with all eight cores clocked up to 2.0GHz, with 2GB of RAM for multitasking, 16GB of internal storage, and a MicroSD card slot with support for 128GB cards. Huawei may also offer a slightly higher-specced version of the Honor 5C, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage., although it hasn’t been confirmed as yet.
The rear snapper has a 13MP sensor with single LED flash while there’s an 8MP front-facing camera for those selfie shots. Providing the juice is a 2,900mAh battery. Naturally, being an Honor smartphone, the 5C will sport Huawei’s Emotion UI, which will run on top of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow base OS.
As you can see from the images, there is a fingerprint scanner just below the camera lens on the rear of the handset, which, if it’s anything like the 5X’s scanner, will be a pleasure to use. Finally, the Honor 5C weighs in at 156 grams with dimensions of 147.1 x 73.8 x 8.3mm.
The Honor 5C is believed to launch on April 28th, although details about where it will be available are understandably sparse. Still, it’s just a couple of weeks to go until April 28th, and I’m sure Huawei/Honor will put out a few teasers and leaks in the meantime.
What do you think of the Honor 5C so far and would you like to see it launched in your region?
