If I'm posting to an inappropriate newsgroup - please direct me to the
proper one.

When I insert an audio CD, I'm initially greeted with the following window:

"Desktop" Access to the specified device, path or file is denied.

If I persist, I can play the CD, by accessing in Windows Explorer and
'opening with': Media Player.

Particulars: Win2000, Windows Media Player version 9.00.00.3075.

This is only a recent event. Media Player used to function normally with
same CD(s).

Thanks - james

Re: Media Player Issue

Dave, thanks for the very fast reply. It does appear the 'article' you
recommended is appropriate. Since, the solution didn't jump out and grab
me - and since, 'I don't think fast - but I think long' - I'll attempt to
digest and explore what the article is attempting to tell me.

Thanks - james

Re: Media Player Issue

James,

What does the OPEN verb say in the file types?

Example:

MP3: "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /prefetch:6 /Open "%L"

Re: Media Player Issue

Thanks Newbie Coder for your reply. I'd just about given up trying to
resolve this niggling issue. Working around it was not a BIG problem - only
pesky and noisy. After your reply, I went 'in search of file types.' I
didn't come across anything remotely resembling your sample. But, I did try
'selecting all' file types. And, now it works - no pesky/noisy little
window. The file extensions on the CDs are 'cda'{??}. Funny part. This
just recently occurred - to my knowledge, I hadn't altered anything.

So, thanks - james.
