I have Windows XPas an operating system. How can I get the desktop
background/theme called "Mystery" that was on Windows 98 nd ME?

RE: wanted background/theme

You should dual-boot with 98SE and then you can have backwards compatibility
with DOS games also.

This one?

You might do better asking in a Windows XP group, as people there might know
sources for themes you can search through. Otherwise, install W98 and your
required theme as a virtual PC
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/virtualpc/default.mspx),
and transfer the settings one by one to XP.

Re: wanted background/theme

Jeff, I did like Windows Virtual Machine for 98 on XP. However, I found it
did not have quite the functionality as the actual operating system itself
and I think the ram of video cards may be limited to only 1 megabyte but this
is just a guess from what I read before. The problem was some games
installed fine on 98SE but when I tried to install the same games on Windows
98SE in a virtual machine of XP Professional then the games crashed. The
games in question are the Sierra Collections that run on 98SE ---- I think it
was Police Quest ---- new King's Quest collection said 2000 or XP ----- and I
forget about the Space Quest collection --- I am too tired now to look up the
system requirements of all those game packs. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: wanted background/theme

I was not suggesting that OP install W98 to play games, but merely to get
the components of the Mystery theme he was after.

Re: wanted background/theme

Sorry, Jeff. I did not mean to be rude. I was just pointing out to the op
the limits of Microsoft Virtual Machine. Your information is correct as
usual.
