Why doesn't RDP client pass thru the handedness of the mouse

I use mouse left-handed due to arthritis problems in my right hand. I also
have to RDP to servers using an admin id shared with other users, so I can't
change the mouse settings for the user on the server to left-handed. Using
Rdesktop to the servers from Linux I get a left-handed mouse session without
changing any settings on the server, so why can't the MS RDP client manage
the same? Problem happens with the latest version of the RDP client as well
as with previous versions.

hi,
you dont have to set anything on the server, just set on client the typo for
mouse(left/right handed) and used, you dont have even to disconect.

No, that doesn't work. From the same machine, which is dual boot, to the
same server, Rdesktop passes through the left-handedness of the mouse and
RDP on WinXP does not. In fact, if the server in question is running Citrix,
then from WinXP the Citrix client to that server passes through the
left-handedness of the mouse and the RDP client does not.

Do you have a MS mouse, and are you running Intellipoint (& which version
#)? Or do you have something like a Logitech mouse and software?

It's the Dell-branded optical mouse that came with the workstation, and it's
using the Logitech mouse software provided from Dell.

Re: Why doesn't RDP client pass thru the handedness of the mouse

It might help to try the newest version of Logitech's setpoint software
instead of what came with your mouse, but I wouldn't hope for much. You
could try not using the software at all, but just the default Windows
driver (but any extra buttons on the mouse probably wouldn't work).
Or, maybe the driver has nothing to do with it?

Is the mouse actually a left-handed shape? Most newer Logitech mice that
I have seen aren't very ambidexterous.
