I have 2 laptops both running XP PRO. I have a server running Windows 2000
server. The TS server is running in application mode.
One of the laptops can access the server ok, the other had it's temporary
license expire. Why was it running with a temporary license? The laptops
were purchased at different times has something changed with XP?
My understanding was that XP PRO came with a license to access TS under 2000
server without requiring the purchase of additional licenses.

Any ideas? Should I run the TS server in administrator mode in order to get
both laptops to have valid licenses?

Thanks

All clients start out with a temporary license. That is normal. What I
would do is check the permissions on the
HKLM\software\microsoft\mslicensing key. Make sure that users have full
control of that key and everything below it.

Re: XP accessing Windows 2000 server

Hi Jeff,
I appreciate your time.
I did as you suggested. I set full control for the users on the mslicensing
key and all sub-keys.
I am getting "The remote computer disconnected the session because of an
error in the licensing protocol"

The other laptop still connects ok.
