no warning sounds

dear all,
i dont hear any warning sounds only sounds from my music cd's, i have
uninstalled the sound card and reinstalled it but still no luck, volume
control does not show up on the task bar also. i think it might be the audio
codecs, but dont know, please advice.

Hi Franky,
Select > start > control panel > sound, speech and audio devices > sounds
and audio devices > put a tick in place volume icon in task bar > apply > ok.
open troubleshooters in the left pane and select sound and follow the guide.
