Hi. We have two Windows 2003 SP2 R2 servers (different hardware, builds and
software) which restart/reboot rather than shutdown when shutdown is
selected. I've searched online but am struggling to find any possible
explanations. Can anyone advise how I can resolve this ?

Thanks,
Alex.

This usually means that it has sensed a problem when shutting down and has
rebooted to correct it!
Switch off the "Automatically restart on system failure" and see what error
message occurs when you shut down. This should point you in the right
direction as to what is causing the issue.

See if you have Broadcom NetXtreme NICs on those servers. If yes, you need
to update the driver. That's what happened to my Dell PE2950s.
