White List for Internet Access

I have a client that is considering moving from a Novell environment to
a Windows-server environment. One of the concerns is that we have a
product we're using on the Novell side that provides "white list" web
access functionality - users can only visit approved site, and the sites
are maintained in text files on the server. Access is by groups, e.g.,
group A can visit all the sites listed in texfileA.txt, group B can
visit al the sites listed in textfileA plus those in textfileB, and so
on.

I'd appreciate knowing about products that offer this functionality in a
Windows environment. The client currently has SBS-2003 but will
probably get all new servers and start from scratch.

Thanks in advance.

The Novell Product you describe sounds like BorderManager with SurfControl.
Microsoft has a similar product in Internet Acceleration Server(ISA) 2006
which can also use SurfControl.

P.S. ISA 2008 should be out "Real Soon"(TM)

We are using a product called LinkWall on Novell, which is normally used
for Blacklisting but also has an "Allow" mode - we're using it in Allow
mode. I am not familiar with SurfControl.

Thanks.

Re: White List for Internet Access

Sounds like as Peter mentioned that ISA could do it, also there are lots of
hardware appliances that do this, ones I know of is Barracuda and Threat
wall.some routers infact have this built in like the ZyWall range.

Mike.
